Wynnewood's biggest October event is the Wynnewood Chamber of Commerce Fall Festival on Saturday, Oct. 17, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in downtown Wynnewood. It has food trucks, vendors, a soap box derby race and a rubber duck race. The announcement in the Garvin County News Star didn't send readers to a ticket page or a registration portal. It ended with two names and two phone numbers.
The rest of the month works the same way. The free monthly community supper is announced with its menu and the name of whoever paid for it. The 1907 hotel that now serves as the town museum opens for tours when someone calls ahead. Wynnewood's calendar is kept by specific people, and the announcements say who they are. Once you know which person runs which event, you can plan an October around them.
The Festival, And The Two People Behind It
The Fall Festival notice ran in the Garvin County News Star on Sept. 24, 2026. For more information or vendor registration, it lists Christy Thompson at 405-830-5643 and Kaleb Patchell at 405-331-9210. The paper still had the festival on its community calendar on Oct. 1, so as of this week the date stands.
Chickasaw Country's event listing places the festival in "Downtown Wynnewood" and sends visitors to the Wynnewood Chamber of Commerce Facebook page for details. That's the full public record so far. None of the published notices name the street the soap box cars will run down or the water the rubber ducks will float on.
That gap matters if you have a kid who wants to race or you want a curbside spot at the finish line. The derby route and the duck race location are details to get from Thompson, Patchell or the Chamber page in the days before the 17th.
Here's what's confirmed and what isn't:
| Festival detail | What's published | Where to confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Date and hours | Saturday, Oct. 17, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. | Garvin County News Star, Sept. 24 and Oct. 1 |
| Location | Downtown Wynnewood | Chickasaw Country event listing |
| Attractions | Food trucks, vendors, soap box derby, rubber duck race | Garvin County News Star |
| Derby route and duck race spot | Not published | Chamber Facebook page or organizers |
| Vendor registration | Through the organizers | Christy Thompson, 405-830-5643, or Kaleb Patchell, 405-331-9210 |
If you've thought about selling crafts, baked goods or anything else from a booth, the vendor line goes to those same two numbers. Two weeks out from the festival, a phone call is the quickest way to find out whether spots are still open.
The Supper That Prints Its Menu
The Chamber festival happens once a year. The Third Thursday Community Dinner happens every month, and it's run differently.
The dinner is hosted by Resilient Wynnewood and Neighbors in Need at the Wynnewood Community and Senior Center, 804 E. Robert S. Kerr Blvd. It runs from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and costs nothing. The August notice described it as a free meal and a chance to get to know your neighbors. That month the menu was smothered hamburger steak, sponsored by citizen donors.
In September, the Pauls Valley Democrat reported that the Resilient Wynnewood citizens group was "again teaming up with Neighbors in Need." The Sept. 17 dinner was Frito chili pie casserole, sponsored by Caden Knighten, No. 11 for the Baylor University Bears.
That's the pattern. Each month's notice gives the dish and the name of the person or group paying for it. One month it was a group of citizen donors. The next it was Caden Knighten of the Baylor Bears.
Where Resilient Wynnewood Came From
The group behind the supper started as a planning coalition. In July 2025, the Garvin County News Star announced a Resilient Wynnewood Coalition meeting at the Senior Center. The group planned to pick a community project and might discuss a citywide cleanup, a food-insecurity grant and training opportunities. The notice invited any interested resident to come.
A year later, the same group was co-hosting a monthly free dinner in the same building. The published record doesn't say how the coalition got from that agenda to the supper. It does show that the July 2025 talk of food insecurity and the 2026 dinners happened at the same address on Robert S. Kerr Blvd.
What October 15 Looks Like
Oct. 1, 2026 fell on a Thursday, so the third Thursday this month is Oct. 15. That's two days before the Fall Festival. If the dinner keeps its schedule, Oct. 15 is the evening it would happen. As of today, though, no October dinner notice has turned up in the local papers. The date fits the pattern but isn't confirmed.
The August notice ran six days before that dinner, so it's worth watching the Garvin County News Star calendar and the Pauls Valley Democrat around Oct. 8. Each notice so far has included the menu and the sponsor.
One Boulevard Holds Most Of It
Line up the addresses from these announcements and most of Wynnewood's October sits on a single road. Here they are by street number along E. Robert S. Kerr Blvd:
- Eskridge Hotel Museum, 114 E. Robert S. Kerr Blvd. TravelOK describes it as a 1907 hotel turned museum. Tours are by appointment at 405-896-0920.
- Wynnewood Community and Senior Center, 804 E. Robert S. Kerr Blvd. This is home to the Third Thursday Community Dinner and was the meeting place for the Resilient Wynnewood Coalition.
- Miss Ann & Pappy's Savage Diner, 907 E. Robert S. Kerr Blvd. One reviewer wrote in October 2025 that the diner had opened four days earlier. Another reported eating there in April 2026.
The Senior Center at 804 and the diner at 907 share the same stretch of the boulevard. If you're in town for the Third Thursday supper, the diner is close by. If you have family visiting for the Fall Festival, the 1907 hotel is on the same road.
The Museum Works On The Same Terms
The Eskridge Hotel Museum follows the same rule as the rest of the calendar. TravelOK says tours are by appointment and visitors should call ahead. Before the festival, check whether the museum has plans for Oct. 17, and if you want a tour, call 405-896-0920 first.
The museum also has a holiday history. An older TravelOK listing for the Wynnewood Downtown Christmas Parade & Celebration mentions a Christmas market, chili and Santa photos at the Eskridge Museum. That listing's dates end in 2021, so it doesn't tell you anything about a 2026 parade. Whether there will be a holiday event this year is another question for the Chamber.
The Diner Nearing Its First Year
Miss Ann & Pappy's Savage Diner is about to mark one year on the boulevard. Based on the review timeline, it opened in October 2025, and it was still serving in April 2026. That puts its first full October in the same month as the Fall Festival and the third Thursday supper, all on E. Robert S. Kerr Blvd or downtown.
The Falls Changed Their Hours On October 1
The nearby park trip on this October list also changed its schedule this week. Turner Falls Park sits at I-35 and U.S. 77 in Davis. On Oct. 1 it switched to its winter hours of 8 a.m. to sunset, which run through April 30. The park's number is 580-369-2988.
With shorter fall days, sunset closing leaves less afternoon than it did in September. If you're planning a Sunday at the falls after festival weekend, start earlier in the day.
Your October, Number By Number
Here's the month's calendar with the contact for each item:
- Oct. 15, if the pattern holds: Third Thursday Community Dinner, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Wynnewood Community and Senior Center, 804 E. Robert S. Kerr Blvd. Watch the Garvin County News Star and Pauls Valley Democrat for the notice, the menu and the sponsor.
- Oct. 17: Wynnewood Fall Festival, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., downtown. For derby, duck race and vendor questions, call Christy Thompson at 405-830-5643 or Kaleb Patchell at 405-331-9210.
- Any day, by appointment: Eskridge Hotel Museum, 114 E. Robert S. Kerr Blvd., 405-896-0920.
- Through April 30: Turner Falls Park in Davis, 8 a.m. to sunset, 580-369-2988.
The two events with firm public details are the festival and the park hours. The supper date and the museum's festival-day plans are a phone call away.
Here at The McElroy Team, we keep up with south-central Oklahoma towns through these same local notices. When Wynnewood homeowners ask us what their property is worth, we look at the details too, from which block of Robert S. Kerr Blvd it sits on to what has opened nearby in the past year. If you'd like that kind of look at your own home, request a Free Home Valuation and we'll put one together for your address.
